Standard Logistics Voted Top Company for Women!
Standard Logistics team receives "Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation" Award. From Jennifer Hendrick, President of Women In Trucking Association.
Standard Logistics has just been recognized as the “Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation” by Redefining the Road Magazine, the official magazine of the Women in Trucking Association. In an industry where women represent less than 15% of the workforce, we are both humbled and honored to be presented with this accolade.
Women comprise fifty percent of our senior leadership team and forty percent of our overall leadership cadre. Make no mistake, women are a driving force behind our success, and take great pride in the increasing diversity within our ranks. To celebrate this milestone, we sat down with Emily Burgeson, Area Fleet Manager – Midwest, Melissa De La Hoz, Carrier Sales, Luciana Martinez, Warehouse Operations Manager, and Cheyanne Parr, Lead Driver to hear about their experience at Standard Logistics and advice for women interested in the industry.
First off, why Standard Logistics?
Luciana – Standard is a diverse company and treats everyone equally.
Emily – I chose to work with Standard Logistics because at the time it was a small startup company with potential. Everyone I interviewed with genuinely seemed invested not just in the company’s success, but the team as a whole.
Would you recommend Standard Logistics to another woman? Why?
Cheyanne – Absolutely. Standard Logistics doesn’t judge and is very diverse.
Emily – Definitely. Women are not a number or a box to check. Our ideas and opinions truly matter, and we are given a voice to make an impact in this industry.
If a woman you knew was interested in becoming a driver or entering the transportation industry, what advice would you give her?
Emily - Go for it! We have an opportunity to make a change in what a driver or anyone in this industry should look like. We can pave the way for our future to see that as women, we don’t have to set limits for ourselves. If we can envision it, we can do it!
Melissa – The predominantly male environment can be intimidating for a woman. Even so, the contribution women provide is important. We are detail oriented and possess a keen sense for organization. You can show your true self without fear because your opinion always counts.
What does our mission mean to you?
Best in class logistics. Employee driven. Customer focused.
Cheyanne – It’s a very true statement about Standard’s way of working and developing.
Melissa – For me, it clearly shows the intention we want to bring as a company on the services we offer. With our mission, we communicate to the world that every employee is an important piece in providing the best service to all of our customers.
A huge thanks to Luciana, Cheyanne, Emily, and Melissa for taking the time to share their perspectives. This honor is deeply appreciated, and we are committed to upholding our reputation as an exemplary workplace for women. To echo Emily’s sentiments, “it takes a lot to be great, there isn’t one thing that can put us on top. To be the best, your people have to be great.” So, we’d like to extend our thanks to all of the remarkable women whose contributions help make to make Standard Logistics the best-in-class logistics operation.
